Boxers and Buddies, like all rescues, is always in DESPERATE need of volunteers. The following are just a FEW of the ways you can volunteer for Boxers and Buddies.

Transport: Many of our dogs come from out of the area, or have very little time left. Some shelters can be from 4 to 6 hours from Reno and the dog may be scheduled for euthanisia THAT day. If we can't get them, they die. Transporters are in short supply and high demand. People willing to give their time and gas to get dogs on a 12 hour round trip journey armed only with empty dog crates and directions are angels. If you're interested in transporting, please contact our volunteer coordinator.
Cleaning: As you may have guessed, housing 40+ dogs at any given time can make quite a mess. Anytime anyone can volunteer to help us clean, do dishes, laundry, or other tasks it helps our dogs be a bit more comfortable and happier. If you think that you can help us clean, please contact our volunteer coordinator.

Training: Many of our dogs have little or no formal training or manners. Well behaved dogs find homes faster. Boxers and Buddies will sponser to send the dogs through a 6 week obedience class. Volunteers need to commit attending all 6 weeks of the course and come visit the dog at least 3 times a week (and ideally every day) for 15 to 30 minutes to practice what you learned in class. If training dogs sound fun, please contact our volunteer coordinator.

Walking: Many of our dogs spend most of their time in crates and other dog run enclosures. Dogs need outlets for their energy like walks, runs, hikes and other appropriate activities. Walking dogs is great exercise - not just for the dogs but for you as well. If you'd like to get out and walk some dogs, please contact our volunteer coordinator.

Grooming: Our dogs don't always get baths and brushed and groomed as often as we would like.  We're always looking for people willing to come in and bath, brush and groom the dogs. Clean dogs get adopted more, so having volunteers help before dogs go to adoptions is important. Would ou like to get some dirty dogs clean? Contact our volunteer coordinator.

Adoption Events: When we take dogs out in pblic for adoption we need people to bring the dogs to the event, staff the event, walk the dogs during the event, make sure the dogs have water, clean up any doggie accidents, help set up, talk to potential adopters, break down and transport home. The longer the event, the more volunteers needed. If events sound like fun to you, please contact our volunteer coordinator.

Phone calls: No matter if its volunteer arangements, adoption follow-ups, adoption inquiries, or scheduling vet appointments, our volunteers can spend a LOT of time on the phone. There is training that goes into phone calls so you will never be calling without an idea of what you're doing. If yougreat on the phone, please contact our volunteer coordinator.
