Tonic is a a beautiful white boxer. He is young, sweet and energetic. He LOVES people but can be a little shy at first in new situations. His trepidation makes him seem almost stoic until he gets to know you - you know, in typical Boxer fashion thats all of 5 minutes.
As far as Boxers go, Tonic is gorgous. He has a perfect square head and a textbook Boxer body. Found as a stray, you may be asking yourself what kind of person would allow this boy to slip away.
All of our volunteers can tell you honestly, they wouldn't have. Tonic has become a favorite of ours, reminding us of a younger Patton. Over 80% of White Boxers can hear. That means only 2 out every 10 white Boxers are hearing impaired. However, in rescue those numbers change dramatically. People love deaf puppies - but they don't train them, can't correct them, and ditch them when they're no longer "cute" puppies.
Tonic is deaf. He cannot hear. He doesn't care. No one has told him he is deaf, he doesn't know. He can still “listen” to hand signals and “hear” his commands. Deaf dogs have a MUCH better attention span than hearing dogs too. For more information on hearing-impaired dogs, please visit www.deafdogs.org or email sarah@boxersandbuddies.com. |
