Swirl

Swirl is an awesome dog - sweet, loving, housebroken, friendly, good with other dogs and even kids! So why would he be returned to Boxers and Buddies, the organization that originally saved him from the shelter?

Because people don't plan their lives to include their pets - Swirl's adopters said on their original application that there were no reasons that they would surrender a dog, but 9 months after their adoption, they decided to move into an apartment that didn't allow pets.

Not only that, but when Swirl returned to us, he had never received the rest of his shots, and he had a limp. On his vet visit to update his vaccinations, he was given a physical and xrays.

The xrays showed that Swirl has a slight injury to his left knee. He currently needs a foster home for 2 weeks that will keep him calm and still to give the swelling a chance to abate and his knee a chance to heal.

For the past 3 months Boxers and Buddies has been raising money for Swirl's knee surgery. Holding countless fundraisers and events for this little guy. As of December 18th,2007, Boxers and Buddies has raised enough money for the surgery  ($1100). Finally, this little guy was good to go for his operation to make his limp subside. Then, the bad news came. Swirl's right ACL as well as his left, is also torn. As if this little guy hasn't had enough, he also has hip dysplasia. Swirl needs surgery to correct all of these, and unfortunately Boxers and Buddies can not afford an estimated ($5,000. ) On our vet's recommendation, Boxers and Buddies has agreed that for Swirl's best interest, he'd be allowed to live out the rest of his life without enduring countless surgeries to both of his back legs.

Swirl is looking for someone who will love him just for who is is. Someone who will provide a loving home even though they know that he may need surgery in the future in aty least one and maybe both knees. Right now Swirl can run, play, walk and hike - but he is sore the next day. As long as he is happy, Swirl can control the pain using medication. If his either of his ACLs tear fully, he will need surgery.

We understand that we're asking for a very special home for this very special boy. The thing about Swirl is once you meet him, you fall in love with him. He's a great dog and deserves whatever he can get.

Can you provide a Permanent Foster Home to this wonderful boy?

If so, please contact Sarah at Sarah@boxersandbuddies.com

Swirl is the best puppy ever!

Okay, so may we're a bit prejudiced, so you tell us. Swirl is:

1) Enrolled in Puppy Training

2) Already knows "sit", "come", "down" and "stay"

3) housebroken

4) Crate trained

5) Perfect

Okay, so maybe the last one is a stretch - the the rest is true! Adopt Swirl and we'll prove it!

He is a character, as his photos well show. He loves to play and romp. He is also a snuggler and likes human companionship and to be petted and loved up.
