Update: July 29, 2009

Hi Sarah,
Jake had a follow up with the vet, and was given a clean bill of health yesterday!  He is now allowed to do all the things a normal puppy does, take walks, play with other dogs, and go to the beach.  He already made two friends, a senior Lab and a 4 month old poodle.  He does excellent on the leash, and now when I let him out in the backyard, he runs straight to the gate we often go out front through (he is still a little afraid of the front steps).  I haven't had the  camera out recently, but he is up to 29.5 pounds, and I swear he gets bigger over night.

Update: June 20th, 2009

Hi Sarah,
Jake is getting better.  He is barely coughing now, maybe once a day. Our vet is happy with his progress, and he gets to start his shots again next Tuesday.  As of right now (knock on wood) it seems like he will have no lasting effects from the distemper.  He spends most of his day playing, chewing, and running around, acting just like a puppy should.  How smart and quickly he learns things continues to amaze us.  He knows sit, down, shake, roll over, come, and is working on stay. He loves to be outside, and would spend the entire day out there if we let him.  He is also a lap dog, in the biggest sense of the word.  If I sit down on the ground, he climbs right into my lap, with a toy to chew on or whatever else he stole.  He also enjoys playing fetch.  As long as I am sitting down, he brings the toy right back and will even occasionally drop it for me.  Jake almost always brings back whatever we threw for him too, even if it means he passes 5 other toys along the way.  However, yesterday when playing fetch, I threw the ball, and he came back with a shoe, climbed right into my lap, almost like "look what I brought you".  Yesterday I found some dog sunglasses for him, since his eyes get so burned so fast.  He is slowly learning to accept them, as long as he has a Bully Stick to distract him.  I've attached few new pix of Jake in the backyard playing.

How are the other puppies doing?

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share a few pictures of Jake, the puppy we adopted on Mother's Day.  He is absolutely precious, and very intelligent.  He is already learning to come, sit, and with much hesitation, walking on a leash.

They will soon be exposed to other dogs, cats and new environments.

The cool thing about puppies is they are yours to mold – you can socialize them and make them everything you imagine. The bad thing about puppies is that if you don’t take the time to raise them right, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I'm interested in Snap Dragon
