Pockets is a very energetic young boxer.  Being a puppy, she does have some issues that require training. She thinks coming to you isn't as much fun as doing play bows and running away. She has no leash manners at all. And until she came to Boxers and Buddies it was evident that she had never been inside a house before. She is learning, but does need a professionally run obedience course (which is mandatory anyway) to help her understand the difference between being a dog and a family member.

Pockets was not spayed when she came to us - she was in heat. Not being spayed can be dangerous to dogs, and Pockets is no exception. A result of her heat cycle, Pockets was diagnosed with Pyometra.

During the animal's heat cycle, her cervix relaxed and opened a little, allowing bacteria to enter her uterus. When the cervix closed the bacteria is trapped - causing a potentially fatal infection. Pockets was operated on in time and is recovering from her surgery.  She should not have any future complications from the condition or the surgery.

If you're not experienced with dogs or familiar with boxers, Pockets is probably not the right dog for you. Pockets is sweet, loving and wonderful, but she is going to need someone with time and patience to help her become the dog we know she can be
.

Cat Test Notes:

Pockets did great with 3 different cats - all dog friendly cats. She sniffed and wal;ked away. If the cats ran she would chase them - if they didn't she would bark at the them. She showed no fixation behaviors and was easily redirected to something else.
