Pixie is a purebred Pekingese. She is a comedic little girl and even plays "patty cake" with her foster mommy. She likes toys and loves to play chase and tag games. She is crate trained and housebroken. She will make a GREAT lapdog and loving family companion.
Pixie was found as a stray and rescued from a high kill shelter by Boxers and Buddies. Pixie was scheduled for euthanasia because while she was at the shelter she would nip and snap at people when they touched her or tried to pick her up.
Once at Boxers and Buddies, Pixie was given a full vet check. As part of her exam, her back and hind legs were x-rayed. The results were surprising. Pixie was overweight. That extra weight put pressure on her hips and knees. Both her hips and knees show signs of dysplasia. Hip dysplasia is a growth disorder where the joints don't form completely and slip, causing pain and arthritis. Being overweight causes more harm and pain.
