Update: 1/12/2010

Moody Blues, now called Blue, had a great day yesterday and woke up this morning full of piss and vinegar.

When Becky left her yesterday, Blue kept walking from me in the kitchen to the front door sort of expecting Becky to come back in.  We explored the house and the yard.  From noon to 3 she was at the groomer's getting all cleaned up.  She was pretty much none stop all day until about 5.  I was cooking dinner and suddenly realized she wasn't around.  I found her lying on her blanket sound asleep.

This morning we went to the vet's for a checkup.  The vet removed the stitches from the surgery on her neck and checked to see if she had been spayed.  All of the papers in the folder I received stated that she was not spayed.  May I have a certificate saying that she is so I can take it to register her?  The vet also estimated that Blue is only about 4-5 years old and thinks I should put her on adult food for another year or so, especially since she will have a yard to run around in now.

I stopped at Bones and Scones to register for obedience classes, something she really needs, but there was not a list or dates available yet.  We took our first walk this morning and she dragged behind.  I can't blame her, she wanted to smell everything.  But I insisted, so it was walk a little, stop and coax.

Blue is very sweet and affectionate.  Last evening I wish I'd had a camera when she very gently climbed into Ken's lap and snuggled way up to give him a little kiss.  She got a big hug in return.

She should be pretty happy here.  She's glad to have "people."  My cat has severe doubts about the entire situation but she got used to Rocky, she'll get used to Blue.

It's easy to see how Miss Moody Blue got her name. Her blue eyes are striking in her brindle face. Many people don't know that blue eyes, although not common, are seen in purebred boxers. You see them most often on white boxers and it's unusual too see them in a colored Boxer - but Moody Blue is a one-of-a-kind.

Although her eyes look weird, they work perfectly well. One of her eyes is true blue, the other eye is called a "pie eye" with a slice of blue and a slice of brown. They're not common, but they work for Moody.

Much to our chagrin, she placed first in an "Ugly Dog" contest and no matter if you agree or disagree with the judges decision, one thing is for sure: Moody Blue is unique looking.

Sweet and well-mannered, Moody knows some of her basic commands (including shake as you can see in her photo) and she walks well on a leash.

Moody loves kids and is good with all people, dogs and cats.

All of that aside, Moody is a typical female Boxer. She's bossy, singleminded, stubborn and loveable.

If you're looking for a dog that will turn head and win hearts, look no further than Moody Blue. She's waiting for her forever home. She's waiting for you.
