Malibu is now healthy enough to find out what happened to her back right leg. It appears that she has a torn ACL. Malibu is looking for an angel to sponser her for her surgery. We're raising money for the operation, but once we have the money, we will need a foster home for Malibu as she recovers.

She will need 6 weeks of limited exercise (stay in a crate and walks only to potty). And we're looking for a special person that can help her recover.

Please e-mail us if you can help Malibu - she is a wonderful little girl that has a bright future ahead of her.

Malibu has been with us about two weeks now, and the change is stunning. She doesn't even look like the same dog!

Her hair is growing back beautifully and the boxer she will be is starting to emerge!

Malibu is a loving, calm little girl. She is still a puppy and we think a lot of her quiet disposition is due to her terrible history and serious past issues.

Malibu has Demodetic Mange – this is caused by a skin mite that all dogs have – but if they go through a period of neglect, malnourishment, or stress, the mite can take over and destroy the hair follicles. It is NOT contagious, but it is an itchy and debilitating process, but lucky for our girls, completely curable.

The mange has caused ulcers in both eyes (that cloudy look you see in the pictures). Her fever was higher too. She is strongly favoring her back right leg - it's swollen and she won't put weight on it.

Taking into consideration her fever, her mange, and that she has a heart murmur, the vet was apprehensive about sedating her to get x-rays of her leg.

She is on an anti-inflammatory and pain-killers for the swelling and sensitivity in the leg, as well as ointment for her eyes. We're hoping she pulls through and is healthy enough to get in there and see what else may be going on

I'm interested in Malibu
