May 22nd, 2009 Hey there...Just to send a quick update..Flora is doing great. She is getting bigger and she actually very smart. We are looking for a obedience course for her now, but she really is great. She walks on a leash great, but doesn't run off when off of it. She comes when asked and is a self taught fetcher. She is still so loving. Loves to snuggle and not much of a barker...Only when mad at her toy. We will update more pictures soon. The Miesner Family

Sarah and Becky,

Just wanted to let you know that Flora is doing great!  She did fantastic on the trip home, slept most of the way.  We went to Petco and bought her all kinds of toys, treats, dog dishes and a bed.  She has slept the last two nights with us in our room on my daughters little princess couch that pulls out to a bed and sleeps all night.  I think she is kind of potty trained because she has not had one accident and goes in the same area in our yard.  She has barked...once and it was when we put her outside when we ate dinner last night.  She learning to go up and down our stairs, luckily we still have our child gates up, because she is pretty unsure of herself on them.   We took her to the baseball field to let Aidan hit some balls and she chased all the balls, she actually kind of plays fetch.  She loves running after the ball, and drops it when tell her to.  She was very well behaved off of her leash.  She would run and fetch the ball and then come back with it, but would stop about 2 feet from us and then lay down and start chewing it.  But then would drop it if asked.   She is still pretty itchy.  We are taking her to our local vet just to have it looked at and see if maybe they could recommend something else.  I am weaning her off the food with the corn in it and getting her on the Natural Balance.   She is doing terrific and we are loving her tons...She gives tons of love and is very snuggly.    I'll send some pictures soon.   Thanks! Flora is a sweet little boxer-mix puppy. Her face looks almost Saint Bernardish but don’t panic – Flora will be a medium to large sized dog – not a giant drooly Beethoven. We’re guessing (based on the vet’s input) that Flora was born sometime around January 2009. She is very gentle and a little shy. She likes other dogs and has been staying in a foster home with cats so she is cat-friendly.

She needs some socialization and obedience training to really bloom into the flower her name indicates. Fauna has a slight pull to her Achilles tendon. We have had x-rays done and she was recommended to rest and ice. She should be up and running again soon!

Flora needs a family that is willing to commit to raising and training a puppy. The cool thing about puppies is they are yours to mold – you can socialize them and make them everything you imagine. The bad thing about puppies is that if you don’t take the time to raise them right, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Flora is going to be a wonderful dog. The question is: will she be YOUR wonderful dog?
