He fits in like a glove. Everyone has accepted him and he will have nothing further to do with sleeping in a crate. So up on the bed with the rest of us. Here is a picture of Ernie and Norabell with the kitty area behind them. He loves bellyrubs and big bones! And especially me and my husband too. He follows the pack out through the doggy door and prances like the little man he is! Much as he likes the other dogs he is more interested in human bonding right now. But his independent streak is apparent and he is not clingy. We just love him. And he thinks he is the happiet and luckiest dog alive.

But his mouth smells horrible and I can see on his upper canines the tartar is 1/2 way down the tooth. Had we spent more time together I would have known and asked your vet to charge me for the dental while he was being neutered. Now I would like to take him in asap because I just love all those kisses but PU! Do you know what your vet's recommendation will be for going back under anesthesia? How long does he suggest we wait before putting him through it again?

I will send more pics as time goes on. The doggy door is still a little challenge, it's the extra-large! But he has the spirit of a 100lb dog and it shouldn't take but a day or so more. Thanks for your reply on the anesthesia, and thank you for saving Ernie.

Ernie is a most likely a “chi-weenie”. That is, a Chihuahua Dachshund mix. He is small and easily intimidated by loud noises and quick movements. He would not be appropriate for loud raucous homes or homes where small children live or visit. He does great with most other dogs, but some people scare him.

Ernie has the potential to be a great dog, but he will need some love and time and training. Ernie had a home and family once. They dumped him in the shelter when they moved. To go from a warm loving environment to a cold cement and chain link run that reeks of urine and feces was a rude awakening for Mr. Ernie. He needs some time and training and stability to once again become a loving pet and companion. Are you looking for the special dog just for you? Ask us about Ernie.
