Dug is named after the dog on the Disney movie "UP". He does not have a problem with digging. His full name is Dug the Thug Pug: Dug, after the disney dog and Thug Pug because Dug doesn't understand that he weighs about 12 pounds. He doesn't start things with other dogs - he's very social and does well with everyone.

Dug was turned in to animal control with a dog jacket that had been on him for so long it had to be cut off of him. The jacket was too small and dirt was caked inside it. The combination caused all of the fur to be rubbed off his body and a severe yeast infection of his skin. Dug is under vet care for his skin and he's recovering slowly.

Dug's treatment consists of special anti-yeast baths every other day combined with antibiotics and a special hypo-allergenic food. The redness is gone from his belly, neck and sides and his hair is starting to grow back. It's a  long road for Dug to make a full recovery and we need your help and donations to help Dug make a complete recovery.

Cat Test Notes:

Update: 12/28/09

Dug had another vet visit today. There is finally some good news in Dug's future. A skin scrape confirmed that Dug does NOT have mange. This is great and means that although his current treatment is working slowly, he is making progress and not getting worse.

We've started noticing the hair on Dug's neck is finally growing in (although slowly). He's still on special food and anti-yeast perscription baths every other day. He would probably recover faster in a foster home so if you or anyone you know are looking for a Thug Pug to add to your home - even on a temporary basis - contact us. Help us help Dug. Dogs deserve better.
