Thanks for all your concern. We are very happy with Dudster, and we are enjoying every single minute with him. He is truly a sweet, loving dog, and by the way, everyone at the vet's office fell in love with him. : ) We'll definitely keep you updated. And, we haven't had an "accident" in the house now for about 8 days. We just leave the screen door open for him when he's in the house, and now he just trots outside when he feels the urge. He is such a GOOD BOY!!! : D |
Hi, guys!
Thought I would send you another email, as I know Dudley was well loved, and also Becky has called me a few times and I have not returned her calls…sorry, Becky! K
Anyways, Dudley is doing better every day. Today, he actually went outside on his own, peed, and then came back inside. Yay!!! I was so proud of him I had to call Randy in Susanville and let him know. Dudley loves his crate. He also loves to spend time with us in the house, and we love to have him around. Although I know you guys suggested he be strictly an outdoor dog because of his peeing, we have remained stubborn about including him with us wherever we are. Which means he is inside with us if he wants to be, which is usually where he wants to be! J
We have put off the training class for another month because Dudley is in the process of being thoroughly tested by the vet, which is costing us a little bit of money. Dudley’s doctor at Community Animal Hospital was concerned about Dudley’s water intake, and so far has ruled out bladder infection, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, and heartworm. His eyes were thoroughly checked out, and they are as good as can be. The concern now lies with his adrenal system. His electrolyte levels were not where they are supposed to be. The doctor will be calling us on Thursday to discuss more testing for Dudley. I researched adrenal disease in dogs, and Dudley seems to have some of the symptoms associated with Cushing’s disease. We’ll see what the vet says. I’ll keep you posted. Whatever we find, rest assured that we will do whatever is necessary to get Dudley healthy and happy, and if that means maintenance meds and checkups, we’re there! J
I’m including some pictures for you guys. Dudley loves the boat, and he LOVES to fetch. Thank you again for saving him. We love him so much!

Hi everyone!! Here is a picture of Dudley in his crate, getting ready to go to bed with his polar bear and his soccer ball. He is adjusting very well. Sunday morning we took him out in the new boat at Pyramid, and he was happy as a clam. He actually fell asleep in the boat!
We didn’t have to crate train him or teach him anything more than twice. He has learned the stairs to the house and now does them on his own. He is great on a leash and loves to play fetch. He already knew how to sit and stay! Dudley and the cats get along pretty well so far, better than we expected.
He does like to pee, but we just take him out every two hours if he is in the house and he has learned that means he needs to pee, and he loves to pee and then get praised for it.
When he does have an accident in the house, it’s always in the kitchen, so easy clean up and we don’t ever get mad at him for it. Randy calls him our little sprinkler! Thank you so much for saving Dudley for us. We are crazy about him and he was made for our family. I can’t say enough about what a cool, special dog he is. But, of course, you already knew that!

Dudley is a sweet dog with no aggression to anything that we've seen.
However, he has been severely abused. His jaw had been broken and he's very hand shy and submissive. When he gets nervous or scared he will roll over and urinate.
Once he gets to know you he is a love - he is sweet and playful and will bark at intruders.
He was a perfect gentleman for his cat test. He sniffed the kitty, turned and went to his bed and lay down.
