It's been almost a year since I first met Cloud (now "Joshua"), and I thought it was time for an update. Besides, my last one didn't do him justice.

I am absolutely goofy over this dog. This may explain all the photos.  Everything his file and the Boxers and Buddies staff had said was true. He is smart, loving, and "such a cool dog." His previous family obviously did a good job raising him; he is good natured and well-behaved and while he's a little shy at first he really likes people. He's added so much to my life. As I'd told Becky when we ran into her at ArtPaws, I feel like I won the Rescue Lottery with this guy.

When I first met Cloud he didn't seem very interested in meeting me.  Dogs don't know what's going on in a meet-and-greet. I still liked him but I was resigned to the idea that he might not bond with me. I needn't have worried. Since the day I brought him home he's been my little blond shadow. Actually not so little; he's reached his full size and weight now at 60lbs.

In addition to walks and dog parks (and any place with water or squirrels) I take Josh with me to pet supply shops, Home Depot...anywhere that allows dogs. It's been good for him; he's gotten much calmer in new situations. Obedience training in varied environments has also helped. We go hiking together and we've been on several camping trips now. He's very good in a tent and loves to snuggle with everyone in it. Several friends have awakened at 2am to find big brown eyes gazing up from their pillows... He loves water and chasing a ball so we're going to check out dock jumping this summer to see if he likes it.

He's healthy and happy, he's loved and he knows it.  Thank you from both of us!

Hello, I just wanted to send along a photo of "Cloud," the lab mix I adopted in May. His name is now "Joshua." He is a sweetheart and everyone who meets him just loves him. He loves to hike and chase a ball. Returning it is another matter but he's really good at the chasing part. This photo was taken at a dog park by a friend whose lab mix was playing with him. I'm looking forward to taking Joshua camping. Josh is much less timid now, and we're continuing to work on his confidence and security. We are taking obedience training through the City and I will be sending a certificate of completion when we're done. He's a quick learner and he makes me proud. Thank you for a wonderful companion!

Cloud is a Labrador Retriever mix. He likes other dogs and plays well with larger ones. He is very sweet and loving.

Cloud is nervous around new people and could really use an obedience class to help build up his confidence. He is smart and eager to please. Being a lab mix he loves to fetch, play in water and be with his people. Cloud likes to play with his toys and will play fetch or just entertain himself by tossing his toys around.

Cloud’s biggest problem is that he has no people of his own. His people lost their home and weren’t able to keep him anymore. Cloud is missing his people. He’s shy and scared and needs a family to call his own.

Does your family need a dog to call their own? If so, ask us about Cloud, maybe you’re the perfect match!
