My name is S* and I adopted Chanel (we now call her Merlot). I was reading on your website that Prada had seizures and I wanted to let you know that Merlot also had seizures when we first got her. It was aweful! I may be of help to Prada's seizure mystery. Do you know if she had been given Heartgard? Merlot started having her seizures (she had cluster Grand Mal seizures) almost immediately after being given Heartgard. We put her on anti-seizure medicine for a month, the time it takes for the Heartgard to get out of her system, and then stopped the meds. We also NEVER gave her anymore Heartgard, and she has never had another seizure. If Prada was given Heartgard, or some other vaccine, I would suggest letting all adopters of these puppies know that there is probably an allergy in their puppy and not to give this med to them.
Also, I read about the DNA testing on Prada. I'm assuming that Merlot is the same mixture of dogs? Very interesting.
By the way... Merlot is doing very well! We love her so much. She is a little piggy, but so sweet and gentle with my 3 kids, including a 6 month old baby. She doesn't chase my cats and is completely house trained. She is SOOOOOOOOOO smart, but stubborn at times. She went on a road trip to Idaho with us, then spent 2 weeks there. She is a very well behaved car dog. The reason behind the name Merlot is that after she had her seizures, she spent two days whining and howling. I thought it was appropriate to name her after a "wine". We thought Merlot was pretty. I have attached a some pictures of her for you. You are more than welcome to put them on the website. Just don't include any of our names, for safety reasons. Thanks, and good luck getting your boxers and buddies adopted.
Sincerely,
