Dear Boxers and Buddies,

I recently adopted Lucy (formerly Annie) from your organization and I wanted to give you an update on how she is doing.

She is great with other dogs and people of all ages. Your recommendations that she would do well with my two labs were correct. They are three best friends. My husband and I love her very much and she wins the hearts of everyone she meets. She started dog training shortly after being adopted and excelled in obedience with other dogs, people in any environment and today she has passed her Canine Good Citizen exam!

It is hard to believe she was in foster care for over a year because as a Pit bull no one would give her a chance. I am SO glad I was that one who took that chance and boy did I get a good dog! If anyone is considering adopting a Pit bull…do it!

I want to thank you for saving Lucy. If it were not for your organization I would not have the PRIVILEGE to have such a sweet soul in my life. What you are doing is truly wonderful. She has given us so much joy.

Thank You,

Sara Rogers

Here are some pics of Lucy (aka Annie).  The last pic is her with her graduation present after taking the CGC test.

Hi There!

My name is Annie and I need a home. I was in the shelter back in May. I was dropped off there VERY pregnant and forced to give birth to my puppies on the cold cement floor of my kennel. My puppies and I were scheduled for euthanasia 3 days later.

Luckily a rescuer found me and pulled me and my puppies to safety. We got to go to a nice warm house, but our stay in the shelter took its toll. My puppies and I got kennel cough that turned into pnuemonia. I pulled through, but some of my babies didn't make it. It made me sad, but I was too weak and tired from my sickness and my puppies to mourn the ones I lost.

I was sent to Boxers and Buddies to recover with my four remaining puppies. They took good care of us and soon we were all ready for adoption. My puppies all got homes. Once by one I said goodbye to them as they set off with their own families to start their own lives. I was sad to see them go, but happy because I know there would soon be a family for me!

I was put in a foster home where I got to run and play with other dogs. I learned things like house manners, potty training, crate training and how to ride in a car. I learned that jumping fences and chasing cats is bad, but sometimes I do it anyway.

I love to play with other dogs. I wrestle and growl and sound vicious, but its all about play for me! I love the water and love to swim, like you can see in my pitcures. I got to go to the Dog Daze Party at Idlewild Park this year. It was soo much fun! There was a family that looked at me, I was so excited! I thought my chance to get a home had finally come, but they didn't like that I was a Pit Bull, and no amount of loves and kisses and vision of me playing nice and swimming with other dogs would change their mind. They said "We love her, but are just not comfortable adopting a pit bull." My heart broke.

I'm still waiting for someone to love me - to take a chance on me. I promise I will be a good girl. I may make some mistakes, but I'm a quick learner. Take me to obedience. Show me what you expect from me. I'm a good dog. I'm a good dog. Please give me a chance. Please give me a home.
