I was just looking at the website for the first time in a long time and noticed that Mimi is a miniature female version of Adonis "Donnie" Doggo. I'm sure you noticed the resemblance. Christina and I think she's adorable, but only because Donnie is such a sweetheart. He's the best dog ever, by the way. He and Marley (our old-woman boxer) both live with me in Reno and get along just fine. He's as happy as any dog could be; still the giant lap dog who likes to sleep in his crate and nibble on everyone when he's excited. Since Christina is here over the summer, he has turned into a mama's dog too. Anyway, hope all is well at the rescue. Cheers, Aaron McVean

Donnie is doing great - he is now living with his sister, a female Boxer. We travel quite a bit and he seems to love his road trips. His water dish occasionally still dissapears, but he is settling in and is the perfect dog.

Thank you so much!

Aaron and Donnie

I am scheduled for Sunday November 12th to begin training. Adonis aka Donnie Doggo (if you have seen the movie Donnie Darko, you get it) is doing great. He is relaxed, he is walking better, and he is trying really hard not to want my hands when we play. He is an absolute sweetheart, and we have a lot of fun together. See you in a couple weeks. Cheers, Aaron

Doni and his daddy came to visit today. Doni looks amazing - all grown up. It made us so proud to see him happy and on his own, but sad because we miss him so much. We're glad that Doni is doing well... and no more water bowls behind the toilet!

So I thought you would find this amusing. After a rough night with poor Doni getting the runs and waking me at 2am to let him out (which was very considerate of him), I left him in his crate and went to school. I came home for lunch and who greeted me at the door? Doni of course, looking quite nervous because he knew he should probably not be out and about. Seems he did not really care for the soft crate, so he exited via a hole he carved in the front door. I found this quite amusing, actually, and to my surprise the house was undisturbed aside from one item; his water bowl was nowhere to be found. It eventually appeared, upside down in the bathroom behind the toilet (I have no idea how he managed that). Anyway, so I went and purchased a proper crate, which he seems to obviously prefer (he is sleeping in it right now after a long walk that went very smoothly), as he did not go in his soft crate much when he had the option (he would lay on the floor instead). I don't think the soft crate provided the security he was looking for, especially after he discovered how easy it was to escape. :) Anyway, thought I would share this with you. Cheers, Aaron

Adonis is a wonderful dog. He came to us from Best Friends Animal Rescue through their Hurricane Katrina rehabilitation program, Adonis and several other dogs were housed in a Las Vegas kennel for months - getting only one walk a week and no other interactions. Best Friends found trainers to come to rescue and rehabilitate these dogs - getting them used to people again as well as trained.

As you may have guessed, Adonis didn't have the best history. All of his teeth have been filed down flat. It doesn't seem to bother him as the only thing he ever uses them on is his dog food. He doesn't even tear up toys!

Adonis is shy at first but loves all people. He wiggles and wags and tries to crawl in your lap. A rambunctious puppy, he would be better in a family with older active children - he might overwhelm toddlers.

Adonis is very gentle and sweet. He loves to play - and his favorite toy is his water dish! He likes to pick it up and throw it around (empty, of course) Adonis needs a home to call his own.

Don't believe what you hear about "pit bulls" If you have ANY concerns, meeting Adonis will be all the convincing you need!

Please give him the second chance he so desperately needs!
