Jeter
Posted September 13, 2011

Jeter is new to our rescue and we are still getting to know each other. We have already found out how sweet and silly this 2 year old boy can be.
Jeter is a very dark, almost seal, brindle boy. He is bouncy and playful.
On Saturday, September 24, Boxers and Buddies Dog Rescue attended the annual “Pet Blessing” at Lakeside Church, just like they’ve done every year for the past four years. It is a wonderful and well-organized event. This year Jeter
(http://www.boxersandbuddies.com/2011/09/jeter/) was playing and having
fun when he suddenly started to retch.
Volunteers watched in horror as he bloated. Jeter’s stomach was quickly
filling with gas and if the gas was not released immediately, his stomach would turn causing intense pain and be deadly within hours.
A volunteer quickly rushed him to Klaich Animal Hospital where the
emergency surgery was performed to release the pent up gas and fluids
in his stomach and prevent it from reoccurring. Saturday night was
touch and go.
Sunday morning came and a visit to the vet and Jeter concluded that he
made it safely through the night and was greeting everyone with tail
wagging. His vet bills are already over $1200. Boxers and Buddies is a
non-profit animal rescue and desperately needs help to pay this
enormous vet bill.
Monday morning vet check-in – Jeter needs to stay til at least 2pm to make sure his food stays down and digests well. If so, Jeter gets released today. He still has no home to go to and no one to love him.
